Under The Shadow Of Himalaya, 2021

"Under The Shadow of Himalaya" is a glimpse into the world of the LBGTQ community in Nepal, which is fraught with discrimination and abuse. The air's opening shots reveal the world beneath the towering mountain range in a microcosm where everything appears picture-perfect. From this distanced view people become inanimate; devoid of distinguishing features or behaviors. The mountains do not discriminate but loom above as a reminder that we are small in their presence; small in stature and still so small-minded as a culture in a day and age when progress should overshadow regression and marginalization of others who do not conform to societal norms.  _  Melanie Scott
